Program Description: “All students deserve a great teacher, not by chance, but by design.” John Hattie’s research on learning and achievement has transformed education. This workshop applies Dr. Hattie’s research to K -12 literacy instruction within the context of a tiered intervention model. Educators will come away with a deeper understanding of how they can use evidence-based research to maximize their impact on student learning across the tiers.

Participants will:

  • Learn how to apply the principles of Visible Learning research to K -12 classroom instruction
  • Understand the three phases of learning – surface, deep and transfer – and the unique importance of each
  • Learn what activities and routines have the greatest impact on student growth (and which have the least) to maximize and strategize learning time
  • Understand how to use the right approach at the right time so teachers can more intentionally design classroom experiences that hit the surface, deep and transfer phases of learning

Who Should Attend: It is highly advisable that participants attend this session as a team.  Teams may include the following school personnel:

  • general and special educators
  • RtI/MTSS core team members
  • Intervention specialists
  • School support staff
  • School psychologists
  • Principals and central office administrators

Cost: Workshop is free of charge; lunch is on your own
