Spencer Van-Etten Middle is a public school that serves children in grades 6-8 in the Spencer Van-Etten Central School District located in Spencer, New York.  The middle school is located in a rural area on the western border of Tioga County, about 20 miles south of Ithaca and close to the New York/Pennsylvania border.

The purpose of the RtI process at our middle school is for all school community members to work towards student-centred mastery with a growth mindset.


SMART Goals

  • Students who are performing at the 45th percentile and above (Tier 1) will make 1 year worth of growth in one year’s time
  • Students who are receiving tier 2 and 3 services will make 70th percentile accelerated growth in one year’s time
  • 100% of students will set, monitor, and achieve learning goals with a supportive mentor
